Badlands

The Badlands, in western SD are truly awesome. We got there in the late aftenoon and decided to camp in the park. There is no electricity, no water and little protection from the elements. The evening was great, hiked around, enjoyed a great sunset and cooked dinner. The stars - mindblowing - no lights from any source. About midnight, a storm blew in, and the wind howled -thought we might blow away. Some of our fellow campers did give up - found a tent or two in the dumpster. Right before dawn, rain fell, apparently the first time in the are in months! Anyway, we packed up in a freezing rainstorm, after going to bed in 85 degree weather.

  1. Hopefully you stayed dry...at least until you were packing up.
