After Mt. Rushmore - we drove to Custer State Park (thanks SteveL) and drove the Needles Highway. This is a curvy mountainous road that winds through tunnels that seemed too small for the MINI, but tour buses actually squeezed through. Then on through the edge of South Dakota, crossing through Wind Cave Natl Park where the buffalo roam!! (a little to close for my liking). These guys were bigger than the car! And we could not get through due to the tourists watching them. And the top was down! And I had on a red shirt!

We made it and then camped in another South Dakota state park, Angostura, right by the lake! Jimmy asked for a lake site - and the wind blew and blew, right off the lake. So we moved to a less windy site, then we moved off the site altogher, behind a wind break! After Badlands we were not taking any chances!
