Today we managed to fit everything that we had decided to take, into both the camper and the car. I am not sure we need everything we have packed: I have five pair, no wait, six pairs of shoes, (still have time to think about that), we have the porta pottie, the porta pottie tent (also serves as a shower tent) the solar shower, two tables, two chairs, nice, comfortable bed, cooking gear, stove, pots, pans, a camping sink!! Lights, fans, laptop, books, movies, maps, whew. Hard to remember everything!
Jimmy has managed to sneak in some fishing gear-maybe my waders too.
We are getting excited - should we leave Friday from work? Saturday from home? I just want to get to South Dakota on a fast track, then the real vacation starts! Can't wait to unfold my mini camper in the first campground!
Stay tuned!

RED RED

OK, so now we have a RED trailer to match the RED MINI! Had to get some fiberglass repaired, (long story), so the body shop asked what color for repaint! TA DA!
Think we have everything just about ready to go. Glad that Brad will be here, taking care of Jack and Dianne.
And wonderful neighbors that will keep an eye on plants, and other things!
Can't believe we are leaving in 7 days - looking forward to a long, long vacation AND seeing Jeff and his friends and life.

More preps

Talked to my friend Suzie. We were trying to meet and take a short houseboat trip on Lake Powell - but there are no boats available. But, maybe we can still tour all of Utah and stop by northern New Mexico on the return trip.

Having the MINI + mini camper has freed us in so many travel ways! No expensive motorhome! No expensive hotels! We can stop, go change direction! Woohoo!

Oh - here is a picture of the tow setup!

21 days and counting!

Don't forget the corkscrew and the lighter!!! Old joke - forgot both on a recent camp trip - no wine, no fire without lots of improvision.

More preparations

Some of you got an email from Jimmy. He is so excited about this blog thing! I hope you will enjoy viewing this and will make comments to the blog itself!
Countdown to leave: 26 days! Lots of packing to do.
Will be lots of pictures to come - oh, Jimmy got his new shoes today.
Everyday I figure a little bit more about this blog - today I got a profile up for us! Bear with me as I learn to blog! I hope to have it all under control before we leave on the trip!

Preparations for Wyoming

Soon we leave.

The little red MINI has a trailer hitch and we just found a popup camper to pull behind! And we have the "add a room" feature which will be handy when we get to Grand Tetons in Wyoming!
Why are we camping our way across country?
Son Jeff is working for the Grand Teton Lodge Corporation - so that seems to be a good excuse to go on a trip! The big camper gets 8 miles per gallon, its slow and not as fun as my MINI. I am a wanderer at heart and like to take back roads (I'm a bit famous for using the map to find "short cuts")
We leave in less than 4 weeks. I am trying to decide which shoes I dare leave behind, although with the Leesure Lite, I definitely have more packing options!
Besides shoes, we have found mini lights and fans for the camper, as well as a mini sink station for washing up dishes, clothes, etc. Yea for Campmor.com for helping us find the right supplies.
Oh yeah, get this! After we get to Grand Tetons - we have no idea where we will go from there! Lake Powell and the houseboat didn't work out - way too expensive, even off season and mid week! So, the road is wide open, folks. Any ideas?
